2010 Word of the Year

I have seen different posts on various blogs, talking about the power of choosing just one word to focus on for the new year.  I love this idea, and thought that instead of setting a huge list of goals, I could choose a word to encapsulate what I want for 2010.

My word is peace.

Not the generic Miss America answer "world peace."

The kind of peace that can linger in a home, in a heart, in a relationship.

That kind of peace.

With another boy on the way, I figure that peace is a worthy goal.

Even if it means just one peaceful moment with my children each day.

Or going to the temple to feel some Heavenly Peace.

Or balancing my checkbook to the penny for some peace of mind.

Or getting out of the house with my husband to create a little peace in my marriage.

Or taking a deep breath when my children are ignoring my directions, then smiling and encouraging instead of getting angry.

Or being at peace with who I am now, even if it means being several pounds off of my goal weight.

Or being at peace with our financial situation.

Or getting back on track with my spiritual health to have the Savior's peace in my heart.

Yes, peace is exactly what I need this year.

What about you?  Do you make new year's resolutions?  Do you have a word for your year?

  2. Peace is a great goal. Mine probably should be "health" - in relationships, in work-life balance and in physical health. I hope you will find peace.

  3. My husband and I were talking about this the other day. He said he had a goal to find happiness in each day. I think maybe the word could be "joy". Even in challenges we need to find joy or hope for joy and happiness.
